2 new Collierville aldermen appointed to fill vacancies on town’s board

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen is complete again.

Two new aldermen were appointed by the board Thursday afternoon during a special-called meeting in the Board Chambers at Collierville Town Hall. After reviewing 39 applications and conducting nine interviews, the board decided to appoint Charles Hall to the Position 1 seat and Jewel Jordan to Position 2.

New Collierville Mayor Maureen Fraser administered the oath of office to Jordan and Hall following the brief meeting.

The two aldermen positions were vacant due to the town’s resign-to-run rule after Fraser, who held the Position 1 seat, and former alderman Billy Patton, who held the Position 2 seat, ran for mayor in the November election.

The appointees will serve the remainder of Fraser’s and Patton’s terms, which will be up for election again in November 2026.

Charles Hall: Collierville Alderman Position 1

Hall said he is honored to be serving on the Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

“The fact that my peers could judge me that way and deemed me appropriate for the position is extremely humbling,” he said.

Hall, a longtime Collierville resident, and his wife, Laura, own Hewlett & Dunn Boot and Clothing Co. at 111 N. Center St. in Collierville. The retailer featuring an array of boots, jeans and Western apparel for men and women has been a mainstay business on the Town Square since 1961. Hall, who was a salesman for five years at Hewlett & Dunn Boot and Clothing, has had some ownership stake in Hewlett & Dunn Boot since 2013. The Halls bought the store in its entirety in 2020, according to the store’s website.

In addition, Hall’s community involvement includes serving as a member of the Collierville Masonic Lodge No. 152 F&AM and St. Andrews Episcopal Church Vestry

Hall earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Mississippi in 2006 and graduated in 2001 from the Marion Military Institute.

Jewel Jordan: Collierville Alderman Position 2

“I’ve been involved in Collierville for so long in different committees and things in Collierville,” Jordan said. “I love the town and will work for the town in any capacity I can.”

The Collierville resident of more than 40 years, has a long history in the local real estate industry. He is a licensed, certified and bonded home inspector and has owned Jordan’s Home Inspection in Collierville for more than 20 years. Jordan has also served as an affiliate broker at ERA Chamberwood Realty Group in Collierville since March 2003.

Jordan is also civically involved within the Memphis suburb. He serves on the Collierville Planning Commission, Collierville Police Advisory Board and is vice president of the Collierville Community Civic Club. He previously has served on other boards including the town’s board of Zoning and Appeals, Main Street Collierville, Collierville Chamber of Commerce and Collierville Diversity Committee. Jordan said it means a lot to be chosen and be on the Collierville Board of Mayor and Alderman.

Jordan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics at Tennessee State University in 1972 and served six years as president of the Memphis/Shelby County Chapter of TSU’s National Alumni Association.
