3 suspects in custody, 1 wanted in connection to South Bend summer shooting

SOUTH BEND — Three out of four suspects in connection to a July shooting on the city’s east side are in custody.

The most recent suspect in custody, 24-year-old Jacob Pittman, turned himself in to police on Monday evening, the South Bend Police Department said in a press release on Jan. 6.

Pittman, along with 21-year-old Deshon Gates, 19-year-old Termel Reid and 18-year-old Giovanni Tuggle are suspects in connection to a shooting on July 28 that resulted in four people with gunshot wounds transported to the hospital and damage to several cars and homes in the 1300 block of East Bissell Street, police said in a press release. The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s office charged the four men on Dec. 31.

Reid turned himself in to authorities Monday morning and Tuggle has been in custody since November for kidnapping charges in a separate incident.

Gates is the remaining charged suspect who is not in custody. Police ask that anyone with information about Gates’ location leave an anonymous tip with Michiana Crime Stoppers at p3tips.com/203 or by calling 574-288-STOP. Tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a cash reward.
