The Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Bridge will no longer accept cash beginning 11 p.m. on Jan. 12. It is among four bridges connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey on which tolls can only be paid by E-ZPass or Toll By Plate starting in January, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) announced Dec. 6.
Also making the switch are the Interstate 80 bridge at Delaware Water Gap, Interstate 78 and Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) bridges.
More than 80% of drivers already use E-ZPass or Toll By Plate on each of those bridges, the DRJTBC said, including 82% on I-80.
The same change was made at the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202), Portland-Columbia (Routes 611/46/94) and Milford-Montague (Route 206) bridges in June. The Scudder Falls (I-295) bridge in Yardley has been cashless since its move from a free bridge to toll span in 2019.

What do Delaware River bridge tolls cost?
The E-ZPass rate for motorcycles, cars, SUVs and light trucks is $1.50.
The Toll By Plate cost is $3 “due to the inherently higher costs of billing and processing payments” compared to E-ZPass, according to the DRJTBC.
