Dec. 9—Gas prices across New Mexico have continued to fall, according to the latest weekly survey released by AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch.
The statewide average gas price was $2.77 a gallon for regular unleaded fuel on Dec. 5, which was 4 cents cheaper than the previous week and 25 cents less than the same time in 2023.
Drivers in Santa Fe were paying even less, with the average price coming in at $2.75 a gallon — 4 cents cheaper than the previous week and 15 cents cheaper than a year ago.
The national average, according to AAA, was $3.03 a gallon last week.
Doug Shupe, spokesperson for AAA Texas/New Mexico, said gas prices in most of the state are at or near their lowest point of 2024 as the end of the year approaches.
Among New Mexico’s four major metropolitan areas, Albuquerque drivers were paying the least for gas at an average of $2.72 a gallon on Dec. 5, while Farmington had the most expensive average at $2.93 a gallon.
