Amazon driver recovering after Fort Lauderdale stabbing and robbery

An Amazon delivery driver who was stabbed in Fort Lauderdale after his van got a flat tire is expected to recover, according to police who are continuing to search for his assailant.

“Preliminary investigation reveals the incident appears to be random,” police spokeswoman Casey Liening said in a statement released Monday. “The incident also involved a robbery as well and the loss is still under investigation.”

The stabbing was reported between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday after the wounded driver made his way to a grocery store on the 1200 block of West Sunrise Boulevard. His van had broken down at nearby Northwest 10th Terrace, and according to media reports, the driver tried to get the attention of nearby residents before making his way to the store.

He was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in serious condition on Saturday. It was unclear Monday whether he is still hospitalized.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call Fort Lauderdale Police at 954-828-5700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
