Annual meals spread joy on Christmas Day

SCRANTON

People in need of a hot Christmas meal will once again have two options on Wednesday.

Backyard Ale House, 523 Linden St., Scranton, will host its 5th annual Christmas Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. In addition to a hot breakfast, the restaurant also provides toys, non-perishable food items and hygiene products. Head chef James Bodnar leads the yearly effort and served about 400 breakfast sandwiches last year.

Later in the day, businessman Bob Bolus will host his 31st annual Christmas Day Dinner at All Saints Academy, 1425 Jackson St., Scranton, from noon to 6 p.m. The buffet-style dinner includes turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing. Those who attend the dinner may also take a dinner home with them and delivery is also offered throughout the region, Bolus said.

About 3,000 people dined inside the hall last year and more than 600 meals were delivered throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.
