If you’re running errands or waiting for a package, Christmas Eve can be a weird day.
Unlike the holiday itself when most stores in Rhode Island are closed by state law, almost all grocery store, restaurant and retail chains will be open on Christmas Eve, albeit most with adjusted hours, and banks and post offices will be no different.
The stock market will also be open on Dec. 24, although markets will close early at 1 p.m. ET in anticipation of Christmas Day.
Most UPS and FedEx shipping services will also be available on the day, and retail locations should also remain open, according to the companies.

Is the post office open on Christmas Eve? Will mail be delivered?
U.S. Postal Service post offices will be open regular hours and mail will be delivered on Dec. 24, the USPS confirmed to USA TODAY.
Are banks open on Christmas Eve?
Branches of Capital One, Bank of America, PNC, Truist and CitiBank, among others, will be open on Dec. 24, the companies confirmed to USA TODAY.
Some branches of PNC and Truist will close at 2 p.m. local time on the day, the companies told USA TODAY, and other banking companies may follow the same schedule.
It is best to check with your local branch for their specific holiday hours before driving there.
Are shipping services, like UPS and FedEx, open on Christmas Eve?
UPS delivery for all services is available on Dec. 24, according to the company’s website, and UPS Store locations will be open.
UPS pickup for Air and International Air services are only available if prearranged by Dec. 19, and UPS Ground service pickup is not available on Christmas Eve.
Most FedEx pickup and delivery services will be available on Christmas Eve, according to the company’s website, and FedEx Office locations will have modified hours. Customers should contact their local FedEx Office location for specific holiday hours.
