Are central Ohio schools closed? See which districts shut down Tuesday, Jan. 7

As central Ohioans break out their shovels in the wake of a departing winter storm, some area school districts are instructing students and teachers to stay home for one more day.

According to the NWS snowfall map, the winter storm that moved across the country Sunday into Monday dumped as much as 9 inches in parts of central Ohio (that total came in Pickaway County), with many areas recording at least 4 inches as of early afternoon Monday.

Most area school districts were closed Monday, the first day back after winter break for many.

School delays or closures for Tuesday, January 7

As of 8:30 p.m. Monday, the following districts had announced closures or delays for Tuesday:

  • Amanda-Clearcreek Local Schools

  • Berne Union Local Schools

  • Bloom-Carroll Local School District

  • Fairbanks Local School District – Two-hour delay

  • Fairfield Union Local Schools

  • Madison-Plains Local School District

  • Marysville Exempted Village Schools District – Two-hour delay

  • North Union Local School District – Two-hour delay

  • Teays Valley Local Schools

This list will be updated as additional information becomes available. School districts are encouraged to send an email with any delays or closures to newsroom@dispatch.com.
