Barricaded man suspected of Lehigh Acres homicide dies from self-inflicted gunshot

A man authorities say was connected to the Monday fatal shooting of a woman died killed himself after he barricaded himself, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday evening.

The sheriff’s office has not released their names.

On Monday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Nora Avenue, in Lehigh Acres, in reference to a shooting.

Sheriff’s deputies learned the suspect fled after he shot and killed the woman.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said a barricaded Lehigh Acres man suspected of a Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, homicide died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, from a self-inflicted wound. Deputies said the man shot and killed a woman on Monday.

The sheriff’s office said they worked alongside the State Attorney’s Office following all leads. Detectives established probable cause to arrest the suspect for one count of second-degree murder and one count of battery on a person 65 or older.

On Tuesday morning, sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Ninth Street Southwest, in Lehigh Acres, in reference to a barricaded man they said was related to the shooting.

While authorities attempted to gain access to the suspect’s home, the sheriff’s office said, they found the male suspect deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
