Bomb threat issued at CF High School

CHIPPEWA FALLS — A threat at Chippewa Falls High School caused school to be canceled Monday afternoon, and all extra-curricular activities also were canceled at both the high school and middle school.

“We are writing to inform you of an ongoing situation at Chippewa Falls High School,” Superintendent Jeff Holmes wrote to parents in an email Monday afternoon. “Due to a potential security threat, we have made the immediate decision to evacuate all high school students and staff to Chippewa Falls Middle School as a precautionary measure.”

In a follow-up email, Holmes wrote: “We have confirmed that our high school received a bomb threat, which appears to be part of a series of similar threats being reported at multiple school districts across Wisconsin. Law enforcement is actively investigating this situation and coordinating with other jurisdictions.”

All high school students and staff were escorted to Chippewa Falls Middle School. As a precautionary measure, Hillcrest Elementary School also was placed on a hold, which allowed for regular operations inside the school.

Law enforcement conducted an initial investigation and a sweep of the building, and nothing out of the ordinary was found on school property, he wrote. Law enforcement remained on site to work with school officials to return the site back to normal. Students were allowed to return to the parking lot to retrieve their cars, but were not allowed into the building.

Holmes asked parents to not come to the high school, as pickup would take place at the middle school.
