Join a naturalist to learn about owls we see in Iowa, practice some calls, and meet our education ambassador owl. This program will be inside, so come out snow or shine!

Waukee FamilyFest

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Lutheran Church of Hope – Waukee, 305 NE Dartmoor Drive.

Join Waukee Parks & Recreation for the annual FamilyFest on Saturday, Jan. 18. Check out Waukee area businesses, play games and jump on inflatables. Everything is free!

Soup Supper and Pie Auction

5-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Washington Township School, 7 miles south of Perry on P 58.

The Washington Township School Board will be hosting their annual soup supper and pie auction on Saturday, Jan. 18. Potato soup, chili, corn bread, relish, desserts and drink will be served. The pie auction will start around 6 p.m. Donations are used for the upkeep of this 100-year-old former schoolhouse that is rented out for events. Come for the food and fun!

Roast Loin Dinner

11:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19 at Dexter United Methodist Church.

Join Dexter Methodist Church for a roast pork loin dinner with au gratin potatoes, salads and pies on Sunday, Jan. 19. A free-will donation will be taken. Eat in, carry out and curbside pickup (515-250-9012) will be available. The building is handicapped accessible.

Voas Owl Program

9-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 at Voas Nature Area, 19286 Lexington Road, Minburn.

The common owls of Iowa can be located at night by mimicking their calls. The uncommon owls are found during the day roosting in cedar trees. We will be venturing off-trail looking for pellets, whitewash, and feathers. The hope is that we will be able to experience our own “Eye to Eye Epiphany.” Registration is required for this free program through the DCCB’s Eventbrite page.

MERT Soup & Pie Fundraiser

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Minburn United Methodist Church, 705 Chestnut St., Minburn.

The Minburn Emergency Rescue Team (MERT) will hold its soup and pie fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Minburn United Methodist Church. This free-will donation event features homemade chili, potato and split pea soups along with a variety of desserts and drinks. Proceeds from this annual event help fund equipment, training and other special projects of the Minburn Fire & Rescue Department.

The Weary Ramblers

2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26 at Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St., Perry.

Perry Fine Arts will present The Weary Ramblers on Sunday, Jan. 26, featuring the music duo of Kathryn Fox and Chad Elliot. Perry Fine Arts concerts are free and open to all. Donations are accepted. The Perry Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible.

2025 BRR – Perry’s 48th Annual Bike Ride to Rippey

8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 starting at Hotel Pattee, Perry.

Perry’s 48th Annual Bike Ride to Rippey will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1. As the biggest annual fundraiser for the Perry Chamber of Commerce, The Original Winter Ride is held regardless of weather. Daddy Daughter Dance

ADM After Prom will host a Daddy Daughter Dance on Saturday, Feb. 8. The dance is open to girls in grades preschool through sixth grade. The cost is $30 per couple with pre-registration (or $30 walk-in registration) plus $10 per additional child. Couple Shuffle 5K

The Perry High School Class of 2027 is hosting a Couple Shuffle 5K on Saturday, Feb. 15. Walk-up registration starts at 10 a.m. at Raccoon Valley Bank, with the 5K starting at 10:30 a.m. Grab a partner or fly solo to run this costume 5K. Judges will vote on the best costume participants. The cost is $35 for adults and $25 for students. Proceeds will go to the Class of 2027’s prom. Pre-register by Jan. 31 to receive an event T-shirt. Bulldawg Trivia Day

1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 at The Regal Beagle, 9500 University Ave., Ste. 1101, West Des Moines.

The Van Meter Athletic Booster Club will host the Bulldawg Trivia Day on Sunday, Feb. 16. Teams can be made up of 2, 4 or 6 people. The first place team wins their entry fee back.
