Brothers arrested in connection with murder of man found in Abington backyard

Two brothers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man found dead in an Abington backyard this past December.

Suzito Lopes, 43, of Quincy, was arrested at a home in Brockton Monday night and Antonio Lopes, 37, of Taunton, turned himself into Abington police Tuesday morning, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday. The two brothers will face charges in connection with the death of 43-year-old Anthony Leverone.

Leverone was found unresponsive in his backyard at 563 Plymouth Street on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, after a well-being check was called in earlier by his family.

Leverone was pronounced dead at the scene and Abington police and Massachusetts State Police detectives began a homicide investigation.

Investigators later obtained an arrest warrant for the two brothers after probable cause was developed.

Both men will be arraigned in Brockton District Court on Tuesday.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
