Buncombe County detectives arrested a Candler man Jan. 13 for an alleged manslaughter at a Weaverville home, after deputies responded to a call about a gunshot eight hours earlier.
Just after 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 13, deputies responded to a report of a gunshot wound on Pink Fox Ridge Road in the Reems Creek Community in Weaverville. When they arrived, deputies found one man dead from a gunshot wound to the head, the release said. Law enforcement identified the victim on Jan. 14 as Allen Crenshaw, 23.
Multiple people were detained following the arrival of sheriff’s deputies, a previous news release said.
After further investigation by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Becker, 24, of Candler, was charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and was taken into custody around 8:40 p.m., according to court records. He is being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $500,000 secured bond, a sheriff’s office news release said. He has an upcoming disposition hearing listed for Feb. 4.
“As this investigation continues, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office will provide updates as they become available,” the release said.
