CARTERET – A 23-year-old borough man has been charged in connection with a Jan. 11 Roosevelt Avenue crash in which a Woodbridge woman died.
Jair Montero-Moran was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter and second-degree vehicular homicide in connection with the death of Cristina Flores, 34, of the Avenel section of Woodbridge, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said.
Around 9:55 p.m. Jan. 11 Carteret police responded to a 911 call of a crash on the West Carteret Bridge on Roosevelt Avenue. When officers arrived they found an Infiniti and Toyota Camry involved in the crash.
The Infiniti was driven by Flores who suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Montero-Moran, the driver of the Camry, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he remained on Friday, the prosecutor’s office said.

A GoFundMe.com page called For Our Beloved Cristina: A Tribute to Her Beautiful Spirit, which has raised more than $12,000, said at the time of the crash Flores was leaving her parents home in Carteret and heading home to Avenel where she lived with her grandparents.
An investigation by Carteret Detective Eric Guzman and Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Matthew Colonna resulted in the charges against Montero-Moran.
