Catch basin cleaning to disrupt commutes on Route 6

COLUMBIA — The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced a catch basin cleaning will be performed on Route 6.

Staxx Construction will begin catch basin cleaning on Route 6 in Coventry, Columbia and Windham, as well as on I-395 in Plainfield, Moosup, Killingly, Danielson, Dayville, Attawaugan, Putnam and Thompson.

This project is scheduled to begin on January 6 and will be completed by February 14.

Motorists should anticipate lane closures in both directions on Route 6, from Route 66 (Willimantic Road) to the off-ramp leading to Route 66. Additionally, there will be closures on the on-ramp from Route 6 to Route 66 (Willimantic Road) and I-395, occurring both northbound and southbound from Exit 29 to the Massachusetts state line.

Traffic control signs, crash attenuator vehicles and a State Trooper will direct motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
