Central Florida to warm up Sunday before next cold front Monday night

The cold Sunday morning in Central Florida is set to warm up under sunny skies with highs hitting the 70s as the region gets a two-day reprieve before the next cold front comes through, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Winds are expected to shift from the north to the east and southeast bring up the lows seen across the region in the upper 30s and 40s including some frost in the northern counties, quickly warming to the 50s and 60s by late morning.

“Temperatures will continue this warming trend into this afternoon and overnight with temperatures becoming more seasonable as the winds turn southerly,” said NWS meteorologist Melissa Watson. “Afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s today under sunny to mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows will range from low to mid 50s across the north to mid to upper 50s across the south.”

The warm trend will continue on Monday with highs in the mid to upper 70s before a stronger cold front comes in across Florida’s peninsula on Monday night.

“A much drier and colder airmass will then push across east Central Florida on Monday night into Tuesday behind the frontal passage,” Watson said. “Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 50s across the north to upper 50s to low 60s across the south.”

Overnight temperatures could fall into the low to mid 30s across the north and upper 30s to mid 40s across the south both Monday into Tuesday and again into Wednesday.

“A weaker cold front will then push through east central Florida late Wednesday night into Thursday, with another weak cold front moving across the area Saturday,” Watson said. ” A cool, dry airmass will remain in place through theperiod, providing mostly dry conditions through the period.”

The afternoon highs will remain in the mid 50s to low 60s from Wednesday through Thursday, and from the low to mid 60s across the north and low 70s across the south Friday through Sunday.
