Christmas is less than five days away, and you’ll need to know what will be open and closed in New Jersey so you can properly navigate the holidays.
Christmas Day 2024 is on Wednesday, so most regular business will be impacted by the midweek federal holiday.

Are banks closed on Christmas in New Jersey?
The major banks — Bank of America, Capital One, Citibank, PNC, Wells Fargo and Truist — consider Christmas to be a bank holiday, and will be closed.

Will courts in New Jersey be open on Christmas?
Christmas is a court holiday in New Jersey, and all federal and state courts throughout New Jersey will be closed on Dec. 25.
If you have a court matter during Christmas week, it’s best to check for early closings.
Do we get mail on Christmas in NJ?
FedEx, the United States Postal Service and UPS will be closed on Christmas and will not deliver any mail or packages.
Regular deliveries will resume on Thursday, December 26.
Can I buy liquor in New Jersey on Christmas?
Plan on hoisting a Christmas toast? The safe plan may be to stock up on libations early.
As there is no state law governing when licensed establishments can sell liquor, local municipalities in New Jersey set their own hours of operation.
That leaves the individual stores to decide if they’ll be open or closed on Christmas.
And because of licensing restrictions, there are few grocery-store based liquor stores, your local supermarket — if open on the holiday — may not stock alcohol anyway.
