The Cincinnati Zoo, churches and business will be closing Sunday as an incoming winter storm is expected to bring heavy snowfall to the region.
The zoo announced it will be closing at 1 p.m. Sunday and remained closed for the entire day on Monday. Animal care staff will stay overnight at the zoo to care for the animals, the zoo added.
Crossroads Church announced that evening services and events, including Crossroads Students and groups, are canceled Sunday at all of its locations. Morning services, however, are still scheduled as planned.
Many other churches, schools and business have also opted to close Sunday in the wake of the incoming snowstorm. To see a full list of closures across the Greater Cincinnati area, visit here.
A winter storm warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday to midnight Monday for Greater Cincinnati. Previously, meteorologists were predicting the storm would start early afternoon and on, but multiple parts of the region are already seeing snowfall.
Forecasters predict total snow and sleet accumulation to total between 5 and 10 inches. Ice will also be part of the wintry mix, with road conditions expected to become hazardous.
The winter storm warning affects all counties in southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana.
