City treasurer arrested and charged with domestic assault

Dec. 20—bluefield — Bluefield’s city treasurer has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest on misdemeanor charges including domestic battery and obstructing an officer.

Danny Ray Dillow, 45, of Bluefield was arrested Wednesday evening after Patrolman T.M. Beggs and Patrolman D. Lester with the Bluefield Police Department were dispatched to a city residence about a domestic in progress, according to the criminal complaint Beggs filed at the Mercer County Magistrate Clerk’s Office.

Dillow is the treasurer for the city of Bluefield. City Manager Cecil Marson said Friday that Dillow is currently on administrative leave and that the case is still under investigation.

Beggs said in the criminal complaint that a male that wished to remain anonymous called 911 regarding the fight. He told 911 that there was blood on the floor and that the woman had a cut on her eye.

Beggs said in the complaint that he knocked on the home’s door and Dillow answered. Dillow was asked where his wife was and replied that she was in the living room.

“While attempting to check on the female Mr. Dillow attempted to push me back out of the residence thus causing me to collide into Patrolman Lester,” Beggs said in the report. “Mr. Dillow then continued to resist being detained. I then assisted Mr. Dillow out of the house and advised him that I had to check on the female that there was a 911 call of a domestic in progress involving the two of them.”

The woman advised that she did not wish to press charges, but due to her admission about the fight and the severity of the black eye and the cut, Dillow was arrested on charges of domestic battery and two counts of obstruction, Beggs said in his criminal complaint.

Dillow was transported to the police department where he was processed according to procedure. He was later sent to the Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.

Dillow was later released after posting a $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Dillow declined to comment Friday on the incident.
