With the Springfield city manager position vacant come January following the resignation of Jason Gage, who has served in the job for the past six years, Springfield City Council has picked who will take on the role in the interim.
At Monday night’s meeting, the council is expected to vote on a resolution to appoint Deputy City Manager Collin Quigley as the interim city manager effective Jan. 11. According to a city news release, Quigley is not a candidate for the permanent position.

According to the resolution in Monday night’s agenda packet, Quigley’s base salary will be increased by 15%, to $258,929, during the time he serves as interim city manager.
The city is using Texas-based Strategic Government Resources for recruitment services, which will cost up to $35,000 for the search. According to the release, the vacancy is expected to be posted the first week of January with initial screening of candidates in February and March.
Quigley has worked for the city since 2007, initially in the assistant city manager position and then with a promotion to deputy in 2018. As deputy, he is responsible for providing direction and supervision of the operations of several city departments including the airport, emergency communications, finance, fire, health, information systems, municipal court, police, and risk management.
