Could it snow in Florida next week? Not in Brevard, but here’s how close it could get

While windy, wet and cold weather is predicted for the early part of next week in Brevard County, our neighbors in north Florida may experience a different kind of wet weather.

For the first time in nearly 11 years, Florida may get some snow early Tuesday morning. Parts of the Panhandle are most likely to see the white stuff – if it comes at all.

“Dangerously cold next week as Arctic air brings our cold temperatures of the winter thus far to the local area,” according to a statement from the National Weather Service referring to north Florida.

How close could the snow get to Brevard County?

It looks like the closest snow would fall to Brevard County is in Live Oak, which is about 240 miles from Melbourne. Live Oak, located in Suwannee County, is between Gainesville and Tallahassee.

The forecast for Live Oak calls for snow showers after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning with a low around 31. Tuesday the chance of rain showers is 50% with a high near 45.

The wet weather continues through the night. Snow showers are predicted with a low around 27 and the chance of precipitation Tuesday night is 60%.

Farther west in Florida, the chance for snow increases slightly.

Tallahassee also could get some snow showers after 1 a.m. Tuesday. The snow could stick around until about 9 a.m. when it turns to rain.

In the Panhandle near Pensacola, there is a 50% chance snow could start early Tuesday and continue through the day. At night the low could drop to 26.

Weather conditions warm up Wednesday.

How cold will it get in Brevard County?

Not as cold as northern Florida.

The low Tuesday will be around 48 with a high near 65. It will be windy and likely wet. The chance of rain is 60% and wind gusts could reach 20 mph.
