PITTSFORD TWP. — A couple was arrested Wednesday, Jan. 8, after a short-lived high-speed chase and foot pursuit in southern Hillsdale County.
According to the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department, an officer attempted to stop a mini-van for expired registration tags and no insurance — but the vehicle took off at a high-rate of speed eastbound on Reading Road.
Deputies were able to converge on the area as the pursuit made its way across the southern half of Hillsdale County, and stop sticks were successfully deployed.
The pursuing units lost sight of the vehicle just south of Pittsford and terminated the pursuit; however, the vehicle was found a few minutes later. According to officers, a woman — identified Thursday as 48-year-old Sarha Lynne Brown — was attempting to run on foot. She was charged with resisting arrest.

Several hours of additional searching led to the arrest of Patrick Everette Brown, 52, on charges of allegedly fleeing police, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and unlawful plates.
Brown also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for a third-degree retail fraud case in 2024 that’s yet to be resolved.
The Browns will appear in 2B District Court for preliminary hearings Jan. 15.
