CT woman who allegedly gave police wrong name during traffic stop wanted in Texas

A Connecticut woman arrested for giving police the wrong name during a traffic stop in South Windsor where she was allegedly driving a vehicle without permission is wanted as a fugitive in Texas.

Tara L. Desjardins, 42, of Meriden was arrested Friday in connection with a warrant charging her with using a motor vehicle without permission, criminal impersonation, interfering with an officer, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating under suspension, according to the South Windsor Police Department.

Police said the charges stem from a traffic stop in which Desjardins allegedly violated a traffic signal and used the name and license of another person. She was also driving a vehicle without permission, according to police.

Desjardins was charged after being turned over to South Windsor police by members of the Cheshire Police Department. Police said they found that she was wanted in Texas in connection with an extraditable warrant and was charged as a fugitive from justice.

Desjardins was held on a $55,000 bond and was expected to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Monday.
