Dec. 11—December 11, 2014 — A proposed 380-person housing development in Bemidji Township got preliminary approval from the Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Board. The development is slated to be built on about 50 acres in Bemidji Township over four phases during a 20-year period, with plans calling for 127 townhomes.

December 11, 1999 — ARAMARK, which provides food services at Bemidji State University, learned this week that it can’t serve beer on campus. After the Pioneer called the Minnesota State Colleges system to determine whether it prohibits the distribution of alcohol on the BSU campus, ARAMARK withdrew its beer license application.

December 11, 1974 — Pleas from Beltrami County officials seeking assistance in funding welfare programs in Red Lake Nation has resulted in the scheduling of a meeting of the Minnesota House of Representatives Appropriations Committee. The meeting will study the feasibility of the state taking over Red Lake’s social service costs.

December 11, 1924 — Over 400 birds have been entered at the Beltrami County Poultry show today, the largest show of its kind ever held in Beltrami County. Bemidji, Hines and Liberty township farmers’ clubs are competing for the prize for the largest entry. The birds include turkeys, geese, pigeons and fancy birds.
