No injuries were reported after a plane landed on the New York State Thruway near Albany Friday.
State police said a Beechcraft Travel Air twin-piston aircraft made an emergency landing on the northbound side of the Thruway near Exit 23 at about 12:43 p.m. Friday after the pilot, Logan M. Steed, 19, of Winnsboro, South Carolina, realized he wouldn’t make the runway at Albany International Airport airport due to mechanical issues.
Also on board were two passengers, Steven D. Strunk, 54, and April D. Strunk, 52, both from Mount Perry, Ohio, according to police.
The plane, which is registered to a flight training school in Winnsboro, South Carolina, departed from Fairfield County Airport in Winnsboro at 8:35 a.m. and was headed to Bennington, VT. The pilot was attempting to land at Albany International Airport due to mechanical issues.
State police and the Federal Aviation Administration are continuing to investigate the incident.
