Detectives seek potential additional victims in Old Town Victorville rape investigation

Detectives are looking for possible victims of a man who is accused of raping a woman after offering her a ride in Old Town Victorville, authorities said.

James Aaron Crawford, 40, of Apple Valley was arrested on Nov. 5, 2024, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and county booking records.

The alleged crime took place on the night of Nov. 4.

“Crawford was suspected of offering a ride to a transient victim, then pulling over in a remote area during the drive and forcibly raping the victim,” the sheriff’s department said in a written statement.

“It is believed Crawford may have victimized additional people after offering them rides,” the statement said. “Investigators are releasing a photo of Crawford and seeking contact with any potential additional victims.”

Crawford was believed to have been driving a light blue Chrysler Town & Country minivan at the time of the alleged attack in November, officials said.

He pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape by force or fear in December, San Bernardino County Superior Court records show.

Crawford was scheduled to appear in court Jan. 21 for a pre-trial hearing. Bail was set at $100,000.
