The driver appeared to be pregnant and had a dog, according to witnesses’ accounts.
Troopers said she rammed two cruisers and drove through people’s backyards on Rankin Avenue.
“They came around that corner and hit the gas pedal,” said witness Cat Madec. “I mean, you could hear the acceleration.”
Lance Black saw them moments later as troopers used a PIT maneuver to try to force her off the road.
“She did about three circles and kept going,” said Black. “I don’t even know how the car didn’t stop then.”
She crashed on Rankin Avenue.
Residents there said she ran over a mailbox, hit a parked van, and drove through some backyards.
She finally got out and ran leaving the dog in the car.
“That’s what blew my mind. You had to have some good reason to run,” Black said.
In a Facebook post, officers with the Lowell Police Department asked anyone whose property was impacted to contact NCSHP.
Troopers caught the woman minutes later.
She faces several charges including, three assault charges for ramming the troopers with her car.
