An upcoming off-ramp closure on the southbound Loop 101 is expected to cause delays for motorists in north Scottsdale.
The southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) off-ramp at Cactus Road will be closed for approximately 60 days starting early Monday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in a media release.
State officials said the ramp will be reconstructed as part of ADOT’s ongoing freeway widening project in north Scottsdale, and they are asking motorists who use Loop 101 to be prepared to slow down and allow for extra travel time. They also ask that drivers provide room for traffic entering the freeway while crews work on the widening project.
Motorists who normally use the ramp should plan on using an alternate route, including exiting southbound Loop 101 at Raintree Drive, state officials said.
The $108 million road widening project, which is scheduled for completion in early 2026, goes between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road and started in January 2004. The project is funded in part by Proposition 400, a half-cent sales tax that was approved by Maricopa County voters in 2024.
The project is adding new lanes in both directions and providing other improvements, including enhancements at the Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard interchange.
Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, the az511 app (download for Apple or Android devices) or by calling 511.
