Dunkirk man charged with sexually abusing child

PORTLAND, Ind. — A Dunkirk man has been accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a pre-teen child.

Sydney Colin Nixon, 21, is charged in Jay Circuit Court with three counts of child molesting: one Level 3 felony carrying up to 16 years in prison, and two Level 4 felonies with maximum 12-year sentences.

The charges were filed on Dec. 12, and Nixon was arrested four days later. A trial date has not yet been set.

According to court documents, each of the assaults took place this year.

His accuser said Nixon threatened to harm them if they told anyone anyone about the incidents.

Court records reflect no prior charges against Nixon.
