The East Tennessee Economic Council will announce its 2024 Muddy Boot and Postma Young Professional award winners at its annual meeting 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Hilton Knoxville Airport, 2001 Alcoa Highway in Alcoa.
Featured speakers will be Congressman Chuck Fleischmann and Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter. Special guests will be Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, state Rep. Rick Scarbrough, Roane County Mayor Wade Creswell, Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank, Oak Ridge Mayor Warren Gooch and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs.
The Muddy Boot Award was created to reflect the efforts of Oak Ridge’s Manhattan Project founders, who worked through adverse conditions – sometimes actual rivers of mud – to save the nation during World War II and build a thriving community.
The Postma Young Professional Medal was created to honor young professionals who have made an impact and fostered a community culture in the region.
The event will highlight federal missions in the Oak Ridge Corridorand celebrate achievements affecting the region, nation and world.
