Emailed threat shuts down Snyder ISD, police investigate

Campuses in the Snyder Independent School District remained closed Thursday morning as officials and police continued their response to an emailed threat sent the night before.

In an press release published on the district’s website and on their Facebook page, school board members received a threat shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday. After the Snyder Police Department was contacted, the decision was made to close all campuses as the department and other law enforcement agencies investigate the threat.

In a mid-morning update, district officials promised to share new information about extra-curricular activities and building use by noon Thursday.

“Until the all-clear is given, all Snyder ISD campuses will remain closed,” district officials wrote. “For teams traveling, the all-clear must be provided before any equipment can be retrieved.”
