Previous week’s winner: Escambia and Santa Rosa County Student of the Week for Dec. 10-13 announced
West Florida High School – Jaeden Couron
Jaeden Couron, 11th grade: Gentleman plus scholar plus athlete equals Jaeden Couron. Whether it is in the hallway, in the classroom, in the pool, or in the weight room, Jaeden Couron personifies excellence. His quiet and modest demeanor belie his exceptionality. As a member of the Aerospace Engineering academy, one of the most academically rigorous on campus, Jaeden excels, and unsurprisingly, his class schedule is equally challenging, consisting of Advanced Placement and honors courses from every academic discipline. His diligence and academic ability are reflected in his perfect 4.0 unweighted and 4.5 weighted cumulative GPA, which place him in the top ten of his class. Recently, Jaeden was chosen to represent ECPS at the Sunshine State Scholars event in Orlando this spring. He has also taken part in varsity swimming and weightlifting since his freshman year, swimming butterfly and freestyle events and qualifying for district meets despite managing a knee injury during the season. As a weightlifter, he qualified for both districts and regionals as a sophomore. He is also a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and the WFHS Electrathon car racing team. With an eye on a future as a naval aviator, he plans to study aerospace or mechanical engineering in college. We are proud to call him a Jag!
Pace High School – Jenna Hamilton
Jenna Hamilton, ninth grade: Jenna always has a smile on her face and is eager to help when needed. She works hard on her projects to make sure they are completed ahead of time. She gets along well with everyone around her and is one of the most “Positive Thinking” students I’ve met.
Navarre High School – Nicholas Baucas
Nicholas Baucas, 10th grade: Navarre High School nominates Nicholas Baucas from FBLA as the Student of the Week. He is the first elected President of our NHS Chapter and is excelling in the role. Additionally, he serves as the Vice President of Records for the District FBLA. Nick is an organized leader who inspires his peers. Outside of school leadership, he enjoys Warhammer, all things DC, and comics and has achieved a high score in archery. He is passionate about lobbying against tobacco among students and was actively involved in his middle school’s anti-tobacco group, serving as Vice President.
Success Academy – Ashton Sangfield
Ashton Sangfield, ninth grade: Ashton is loved by everyone- he has never met anyone that wasn’t his friend. He is up to date with his courses and puts his best foot forward. Most recently, he starred in a local play titled “A Good Cry” . He is trying not only at school, but in his community to be the righteous person he knows he can be. Ashton consistently shows respect for both his peers and his. teachers. His positive disposition and manners always impress me. You’re a kind and considerate student, and I’m glad to be your teacher. At the end of the day, Ashton always says this without having to be reminded: “I hope you have a nice day and I will see you tomorrow to his teachers at the end of the day”. His kind thoughts, gestures and actions, towards his teachers and peers demonstrate a level of respect that is to be admired in a student. In addition, Ashton is a student who tries their very best to be the optimal type of student. I actively see this personality trait in him. This is precisely what I like to see in students, and I know you’re committed to improvement and growth. In addition, he reported that his parents are his motivation to do good in school; he reported that he is really trying to get good grades in school as a result of their guidance and input. Ashton always makes good choices during the school day. Their commitment to school makes them a role model for other students. I’m continuously impressed.
