Evansville pastor arrested, charged with 30 counts of theft

EVANSVILLE — Prosecutors on Monday charged a pastor at Evansville’s The Gathering Church with 30 felony counts of theft, court records show.

Law enforcement arrested the pastor, Dallas Montgomery Majewski, pursuant to a warrant Monday, according to Majewski’s attorney, who said neither he nor Majewski were notified about the charges ahead of time.

Majewski was booked at the Vanderburgh County jail just after 10:15 a.m., booking records state.

Vanderburgh County Superior Court records show Majewski faces 30 counts of theft, each a Level 6 felony. The Courier & Press is working to obtain legal documents that outline the basis for those charges.

Majewski’s LinkedIn account lists his current occupation as a pastor at The Gathering Church, which is located in Downtown Evansville at 121 Bob Jones Way. Social media posts from the church also show Majewski preaching.

Church officials could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday to verify the current status of Majewski’s employment.

On its website, The Gathering Church describes itself as a home for “the beat up, battered, shattered and broken.” It hosts breakfasts for the unhoused, multiple drug and alcohol recovery groups and children’s, youth and adult ministries, according to the website.

A phone number listed on the church’s Google business profile was not active as of Monday morning. The Courier & Press sent an email to The Gathering Church at an address listed on its website.

This story will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
