FAFSA and Direct Admissions event set

Dec. 11—Ector County ISD is inviting high school seniors and their families to its upcoming FAFSA & Direct Admissions Application Night from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the New Tech Odessa cafeteria, 300 E. 29th St.

The event is designed to offer hands-on support with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and college admissions applications. This year, ECISD is introducing a Direct Admissions Application program that offers potential admission to over 30 colleges and universities, streamlining the path to higher education for local students.

During the event, representatives from the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB), Odessa College, Angelo State University, and Sul Ross State University will be on hand to provide one-on-one guidance on FAFSA completion and direct admissions applications. This collaborative effort is part of ECISD’s commitment to ensuring that all seniors have access to essential resources for college readiness, including information about scholarships, grants, and other financial support options.

“FAFSA & Direct Admissions Application Night is a crucial opportunity for our seniors and their parents to receive expert guidance in navigating the financial aid application process,” Rico Enriquez, ECISD’s Director of College, Career, & Military Readiness (CCMR) & Post-Secondary Education, said in a news release. “Completing the FAFSA is the first step toward accessing scholarships and grants that make higher education more affordable and achievable.”

Attendees should bring relevant financial documents, such as their 2023 tax return, to streamline the FAFSA completion process.
