Firearm safety measures like trigger locks could save lives of many children | Letters

The Kaiser Family Foundation found that “in 2020 and 2021 firearms contributed to the deaths of more children ages 1-17 years in the U.S. than any other type of injury or illness.”

Trying to get any kind of gun safety measures in this country seems impossible. Years ago, traffic deaths were greatly decreased by requiring cars to come with seat belts.

Letters to the Editor: Until we enact stricter gun laws, it’s a matter of when for next mass shooting

James Causey: Madison Christian school was 83rd school shooting this year. It’s time to act.

While the tragedy in Madison may not have been prevented with a gun trigger lock, why can’t it be required of gun manufacturers and buyers to sell and buy guns with trigger safety locks? People can’t be forced to use seat belts or gun trigger locks, but many would, and the lives of many young children and suicidal teens and adults could be saved.
