A Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office correctional deputy was fired and arrested last week after an investigation into a complaint, according to the office.
The complaint against Steven D. Littleton, a 60-year-old resident of Pineville, was made on Dec. 30. It alleged that there was “inappropriate sexual contact between an inmate and the deputy,” who was assigned to inmate work crews, reads the news release.
Littleton was placed on administrative leave while the investigation progressed. The release states probable cause was found to support the complaint, so warrants were issued for Littleton’s arrest.

On Jan. 3, he was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 on two counts of sexual battery and two counts of malfeasance in office (sexual conduct).
Littleton, who had been a deputy since 2012, was fired, reads the release. He posted a $40,000 bond on Friday evening and was released from jail.
In the release, Sheriff Mark Wood said investigators “followed the evidence to where it has taken us, resulting in an arrest of one of our deputies.
“The dedicated men and women of our department work hard every day to earn and keep the trust of the public and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.”
