Florida Christmas weather forecast. What to expect for the holiday

If you’re heading out of Florida for Christmas, prepare for some travel disruptions, depending on where you’re going.

Don’t think you’ll avoid problems if you’re driving in Florida. Yes, you won’t experience snow or ice, but AAA predicts more than 7.1 million will hit the road in Florida this year. That’s 220,000 more travelers than the previous record high, set last year.

Florida Christmas forecast

Showers are forecast for Christmas Day along parts of Florida’s east coast and Southwest Florida, according to AccuWeather.

Rain, drizzle and fog are possible across parts of the south-central states.

Florida temperatures expected Christmas Day

Temperatures across Florida Christmas Day 2024 will range from the upper 60s or upper 70s.

While not as cool as the weekend, Florida temperatures may not be too bad on Christmas Day, if you consider anything lower than 80 degrees not bad.

High temperatures Wednesday are expected to range from 67 in Pensacola and 69 in Tallahassee to 78 in Naples and West Palm Beach.

If your holiday plans include a trip to one of Orlando’s theme parks, expect temperatures in the mid 70s. But bring a jacket if you’re staying after sunset. Lows could drop into the upper 50s and wind chill could make it feel even colder.

How to check traffic before you hit the road

GPS apps such as Waze, Apple Maps and Google Maps can alert you to upcoming congestion or reroute you around problem areas.

You can look for crashes and other issues along your preferred route at the Florida Highway Patrol’s FL511.com site, where you can also sign up for alerts or download the app.
