Florida lawmaker files bill to allow open carry of firearms, repeal ‘red flag’ law

A state lawmaker has filed a bill that, if passed, would allow Floridians to openly carry firearms.

State Rep. Joel Rudman filed that measure on Monday.

The bill would also repeal Florida’s “red flag” law.

That law allows authorities to take guns from people found to pose a significant danger to themselves or others.

It’s too early to know if lawmakers will consider the bill when the legislative session starts in March.
