Forecast: Winter weather advisory begins; 3-4 inches of snow possible

The second round of heavy snow this week hits Friday and this time around Greater Cincinnati is in line to get 3 to 4 inches of snow.

The snow comes as the region is still covered in the 10-plus inches that fell Sunday and Monday.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the region that will be in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. The advisory covers all Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky counties.

Snow accumulations will affect the evening commute in the Cincinnati and Dayton metro areas, especially along and west of the I-75 corridor.

Temperatures will be in the teens at daybreak and rise to the 20s by the afternoon. A maximum temperature of 28 degrees is expected. Lows will drop to the lower 20s overnight.

When is snow expected to begin in Cincinnati?

We could see our first snowflakes by 10 a.m. and snow should taper off after midnight. Here’s what to expect, per the NWS’ hourly tabular forecast.

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Slight chance of flurries with little accumulation.

1 to 4 p.m.: Snow likely.

4 to midnight: Accumulating snow.

Midnight to 2 a.m.: Snow tapers off.

How much snow is expected on Friday?

The NWS predicts 3 to 4 inches of snow in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Cincinnati is expected to receive approximately 3 inches of snow Friday through Saturday. However, the city could get as much as 4 inches on the high-end.

As of 6:24 a.m. Friday, there is a 97% chance that Cincinnati will receive at least 1 inch of snow. There is an 87% chance that Cincinnati could receive 2 inches of snow. There is a 24% chance that the area could receive up to 4 inches of snow.

Cincinnati Public Schools closed on Friday

Cincinnati Public Schools, Campbell County Schools, and Kenton County Schools are closed on Friday due to inclement weather.
