Freemasonry, the oldest fraternal organization in the world, exists to “Make Good Men Better,” using the tools of the builder’s trade to teach moral and philosophical lessons. Guided by principles of good character, active citizenship, and community service, Freemasons are dedicated to helping those in need.
Columbia Lodge #58 AF&AM, Frederick’s local Masonic Lodge, exemplifies these values. Chartered by the Grand Lodge of Maryland on Nov. 7, 1815, Columbia Lodge #58 has long been a pillar of the Frederick community. Recently, the Lodge was granted funds to be donated to a local charity that embodies the Masonic commitment to compassion and service.
After thoughtful deliberation over several meetings, the brethren of Columbia Lodge #58 selected Heartly House as the recipient of this donation. Heartly House is a well-known and highly respected organization in Frederick, providing comprehensive, free-of-charge services to survivors of intimate partner violence sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse.
“Heartly House’s mission resonates deeply with our teachings to care for the less fortunate and give back to the community,” said Wayne Clark, an officer of Columbia Lodge #58. “Their tireless work to support survivors and advocate for safety, empowerment, and healing makes them a worthy organization to receive this donation.”
This contribution reflects Columbia Lodge #58’s enduring commitment to making a meaningful impact in the Frederick community. By supporting Heartly House, the Lodge hopes to strengthen resources available to survivors and reinforce the shared mission of fostering hope and empowerment.
