Fundraiser helps family of metro bus driver stabbed to death in Seattle

A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of a King County Metro bus driver who was stabbed to death while on the job.

On the morning of Dec, 18, Shawn Yim was dragged from his bus and repeatedly stabbed in Seattle’s University District.

“No amount of money can fix what has happened, but this selfless man left behind a widow, elderly mother, brother, niece, and nephew,” the GoFundMe says.

The organizer of the fundraiser, his niece, says the day before he died, he stopped to drop off their Christmas gifts he purchased with his hard-earned money.

Seattle police are searching for the man who killed Yim.

On Thursday, one day after the stabbing, police named a suspect: 53-year-old Richard Sitzlack. The department says Sitzlack is transient and frequents the University District and Downtown Seattle. Officers ask anyone who has seen him to call 911 right away.
