A GoFundMe account has been created to support the family of 16-year-old Ryder Lewis, who was killed in a stabbing three days before Christmas.
“While his parents should be preparing to celebrate Christmas with their teenage son, they’ll be planning his funeral instead,” wrote the fundraiser organizer. “Ryder’s passing is devastating and has cast a long shadow on what should be a joyous season — a sweet, hardworking kid with a kind heart and a constant smile. He will be so missed.”
Police say Lewis was stabbed during an argument. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on a first-degree murder complaint. The stabbing happened just after midnight on Monday morning.
Ryder Lewis and his father Jay have close ties with the Oklahoma National Stockyards Company, who posted a memorial to Ryder on Facebook.
All GoFundMe donations will go directly into a “for the benefit of” account for the family. If you’d prefer to make a donation in person, all BancFirst locations will be accepting deposits to “FBO Ryder Lewis, Newcastle, OK.”
In less than a day, the GoFundMe account has already raised over $7,000.
