Grand Ledge man killed in crash Friday in rural Eaton County

ONEIDA TWP. — Police were investigating a Friday night crash on St. Joseph Highway that killed a 55-year-old Grand Ledge man.

The crash happened about 10:10 p.m. when the man lost control on eastbound St. Joseph, near Cochran Road southwest of Grand Ledge, resulting in the vehicle striking a fence and a tree, Michigan State Police said in a social media posting on Monday morning.

The victim was ejected when the impact “split the vehicle in two,” police said.

The driver was the only person riding in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Grand Ledge Area and Benton Township fire departments helped at the scene, state police said.

No other details were released, but state police said speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. They asked that anyone with information call the Lansing post at (517) 322-1907.
