GREEN BAY – A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Friday for Brown County, the National Weather Service Green Bay announced Thursday.
Snowfall is expected to start by 11 a.m., meteorologist Gus Kaiser said, with heavier snow in the afternoon. Green Bay is expected to get 4 to 8 inches, with a slight chance for a higher amount depending on lake effect snow.
There is a 40%-50% chance of more than 6 inches of snow in Green Bay and residents can expect snowfall amounts to be an inch and a quarter inch per hour. The storm should pass the area by 6 to 7 a.m. Friday.
The high temperatures will be 30 with a low of 24 in Green Bay. Despite the winter storm warning, Kaiser said he believes the storm will not hit blizzard status.
“We’re really looking at severe impacts of visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less for kind of a prolonged period of time,” Kaiser said.
The updated snowfall predictions for central and northeast Wisconsin.
