Dec. 21—The Give-A-Ham campaign ended in Hartshorne with free pork lunches.
Each year, the Oklahoma Pork Council spearheads the Give-A-Ham campaign, “a heartfelt initiative dedicated to spreading joy and providing essential support to communities across our great state.”
With a commitment to honor their mission: “Giving Back, One Ham at a Time,” the Pork Council gives back by fostering unity and combating food insecurity.
According to a statement by the Oklahoma Pork Council, giving back is a cornerstone of what Oklahoma pig farmers do. Oklahoma pig farmers find ways to give back to communities with food, time, donations, and more year-round.
This year’s campaign already visited Oklahoma State University Main Campus in Stillwater, downtown Maysville, Tulsa, Wewoka, Oklahoma City, and Seiling.
It wrapped up in Hartshorne at 520 S. Fifth St. serving 300 free pork lunches to the community.
Hartshorne was selected in an online voting campaign through social media receiving over 200 votes in just hours.
The Pork Council partnered with Head Country BBQ, Ozarka Water, and the Hartshorne FFA to serve warm pork lunches to the community.
