Family Assistance Centers opened over the weekend to provide information to people searching for family and friends who are missing amid the devastating Palisades and Eaton Fires in California.
Are Family Assistance Centers open amid fires in California right now?
The centers are located at the Pasadena Convention Center at 300 E. Green St. in Pasadena, and the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center at 2551 Motor Ave. in Los Angeles.
The centers were open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, but the Los Angeles County’s emergency information page does not indicate whether the centers are open Sunday or other dates. The city’s 211 page also doesn’t show future dates.
USA TODAY has reached out to the Red Cross asking for more information about whether the centers will open again.
The Red Cross also provides a form if you need assistance locating or connecting with a family member or loved one during the wildfires. You’ll need information like their phone number, email and birth date, if known.
You can also call the Red Cross hotline at (800) 675-5799.

The Red Cross provides the following tips for reaching loved ones during power outages and limited internet connections:
-
Call during off-peak hours for the best chance of getting through
-
Send a text message, which might go through to their phone even when a call doesn’t
-
Check their social media pages, as they may have already posted online
-
Call other friends and relatives who may have already been in contact with them
-
Call people and places that would know your family member, like neighbors, workplaces, schools and places of worship
