SHREWSBURY — Police are investigating a report of a female Shrewsbury High School student being grabbed by a stranger in the Stoney Hill area Tuesday evening.
According to police, the student was able to break free and flee the area. The man is described as being in his 50s or 60s, police said.
Despite searching the area using drones, police dogs and officers, an assailant was not found, according to police.
Joseph M. Sawyer, superintendent of Shrewsbury Public Schools, notified parents about the incident.
According to the superintendent, the student took the late bus from the high school and was dropped off at Stoney Hill Road. She walked along a path in a wooded area to the Cherry Hill/Cherry Street neighborhood with another student and was grabbed by an unknown man.
“I wanted to make you aware of this situation directly,” Sawyer said. “And, ask that families remind your children about your rules regarding safety and strangers and to report anything unusual to you or an adult at school immediately.”
Anyone who has information, should call the Police Department at (508) 841-8577. Police are increasing patrols in the area.
