MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Loved ones of Montgomery County homicide victims came together Monday night to hang ornaments on Christmas trees to honor those they lost.
This is the 27th year for the On Wings Of Love event, hosted by the office of the District Attorney for Montgomery & Robertson counties Robert Nash.
Community gathers in downtown Nashville for Tennessee Season to Remember
Kenneth Tenbarge was just one grieving father out of dozens in attendance for Monday’s event.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families going through the same things,” Tenbarge said. “We have some closure in our lives. Some of the families here — the perpetrators still haven’t been found.”
Tenbarge’s heartbreak goes back to 2017 when his daughter, Allison, and his unborn grandson were murdered by her ex-boyfriend. He told News 2 that Allison wanted to be a police officer so that she could help others.
“We just live in a good community and take care of each other here,” Tenbarge said.
Each family hung an ornament on a Christmas tree in remembrance of those they lost. In all, the event honored 558 homicide victim’s across 27 years.
The guest speaker was Fairlen Browning. Her daughter, I’yanna Rawlins, was killed by her father in a murder-suicide.

“Life is not about the moments that are forced to us,” Browning said. “Life is always about what we do and how we react to the moments that we are forced to be in.”
Nash told News 2 that he plans to keep the event going for as long as he is in office to bring comfort to grieving families during the holiday season.
