The Utica Police Department is attempting to defuse an ongoing hostage situation at Kennedy Plaza Apartments in Utica on Friday morning, an incident that’s been ongoing since 2 p.m. Thursday, according to Utica police.
According to Utica PD Lt. Michael Curley, law enforcement are currently negotiating with the hostage taker, who has barricaded themselves inside an apartment.
Curley said there are only two people involved, the offender and the victim, and that the two know each other.
Police have not identified the involved individuals.
