It didn’t take long for a major snowstorm to hit in 2025 as Delaware will be under a winter storm warning Monday.
The chance of significant snowfall is likely for Monday morning as a massive snowstorm heading across much of the U.S. heads toward Delaware and other parts of the Northeast.

How many inches of snow are we getting today?
Depending on where you live in the First State, you might get as much as a foot of snow today, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
The NWS predicted snow to begin falling for all of Kent and Sussex counties and for part of New Castle by 4 a.m. with the rest of the state receiving snowfall by 6 a.m. Some areas have already reported as much as 4 inches by 7 a.m.
The weather service said most of the region will be impacted with the higher amounts south of Interstate 195 and Pennsylvania Turnpike corridors. The greatest totals likely be be seen across Delmarva and southern New Jersey.
A band of heavy snow should develop with snowfall rates reaching or exceeding 1 inch per hour across Delmarva and far South Jersey on Monday morning, according to the NWS.
In Delmarva and toward Cape May County, New Jersey, snow may mix with sleet, freezing rain and/or rain for a time Monday afternoon.
Here is the weather service’s latest snowfall forecast for Delaware:
New Castle County: 4 to 6 inches
Kent County: 8 to 12 inches
Sussex County: 8 to 12 inches
Snowfall should end by midnight Tuesday in New Castle County and the northern half of Kent County and 1 a.m. for the rest of Kent and most of Sussex County. Snow should end by 2 a.m. for the southern portion of the state.

Delaware weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday
Once the snow subsides, it’s going to get cold.
By Monday night, minimum wind chills will be as low as 5 degrees for much of Delaware, the NWS said. Tuesday will bring even more frigid conditions with wind gusts of up to 35 and 40 mph across the First State.
Temperatures will be below freezing for a large portion of the region through most of this week with wind chills in the single digits at night, according to the NWS.
